I would call it an investment management strategy that is designed to keep it very simple, very low cost, and utilize index funds to match and beat the global markets through rebalancing to match a defined asset allocation. You first develop an investment policy statement that defines your objectives then manage to achieve those objectives by staying the course through all market cycles. Define your asset allocation, stocks, bonds, international segment, and any other, set that up with very low cost index funds that reflect the total market, rebalance at defined intervals and stay the course.
I have been using it for the bulk of my retirement funds and it does work well through all market cycles. I use for 90% of market investments and the other 10% invest in dividend stocks. Also use real estate for a portion.
