Hi Jerseyillager, my husband looked into the microchip "Implantable" hearing aid. First of all, it's not digital....it's analog. Secondly, it's called "Lyric" The price ranges anywhere from $2900 - $3200.00 per year for a subscription, (for both ears). They have to be changed, (by the doctor), approximately every 3 months....breaking it down, that would come out to about $800 quarterly. We've researched this extensively, and have read many pros and cons..Some love it, and some say the hearing aids don't help that much. Obviously, not all hearing aids are for everyone. We've been told you can shower and swiw with them....yet, others have said that they are not good in water. Some say they hear great with them, and some say that when they're hearing well with the aids, and a fan goes on, or someone else starts speaking nearby, they aids block out the original sound and only pick up the fan, etc. My suggestion: If you're not turned off by the price, take a chance and try it. It's free for 30 days. Also, Google "Lyric Hearing Aids", and read about it. good luck in your search. Trish
