How else could they do it? Even if they gave a discount retroactively to those who already started building three months ago, the people who started building four months ago would feel abused. It's a no-win situation for the developer. Let's face it, timing is everything and occasionally we all have unfortunate timing. But it's understandable that people are not happy about it.

Your words ring true and are well said. I thank the Lord first that I was able to take advantage of the 3.5% discount, but this timing of their discounts could use some work as far as Public Relations goes.
I've been impressed with every step of the process they have provided until now with the new discount being higher than the previous. I'm going to swallow the loss of the .5%, but more importantly how do others make plans based on TV's business practices of this kind. People have been suckered into building earlier than they wanted and now have to carry two homes for a longer period when they could have waited, got a discount, and had the timing they desired.
Some are happy, and some are sad over this. I just think the word of mouth praise I had for The Villages reputation has been tarnished a great deal. In my heart their 'force' has been weakened considerably. How can you trust them with an answer as to "will there be another discount in the future" because I'm trying to have a plan with my life and this move. What could I tell a potential new comer about timing?
It is what it is, and again I'm Blessed with the 3.5%, but it could be fixed with a little Human Relations work. I'm still happy I'm going to be a Villager, and a "Grover", but they have awakened me from my dream of them quite a bit. Have a good day!
