Wouldn't say it was 50-50, Dems are still a minority here. This was in the post mentioned earlier that gave a breakdown for Sumter County:

The Villages (Sumter County) Voting Statistics January 2010:
Registered Voters: 36,651
Democrats: 10,226
Republicans: 19,354
Other: 7,071

We've only been here a couple of months, but it really hasn't bothered me like I thought it might. Everyone I've met has been very friendly and politics has yet to come up. If I didn't read the local rag I wouldn't even know how politically conservative TV actually is compared to my previous haunts.
