This reminded me of another experience we had. Were going on a cruise with friends and booked through a travel agent. Our friends had to cancel - luckily they had insurance. They needed documentation to make a claim. The travel agent said you need to get it from the cruise line. The cruise line said because they booked through the TA they had to go through them. Became a hassle. The TA should be helping whether you are booking, changing plans, canceling, whatever.
