Renting a cart for six months every year would get pretty expensive pretty quickly. If you're having someone watch your house, part of the services should be taking your golf cart out -- once a month for a long drive if gas; once a week around the block if electric.

Alternatively, get a battery saver and attach it; add Sta-Bil to the gas; and prop it up on jacks to save the tires while gone (if gas). For electric, prop it up and plug the charger in; put the cart in tow.
