I know exactly what you mean, being a Viet Nam vet myself. I was at a bike show in N.Y. in 1995, and I was admiring an art piece I had never seen before that time, depicting a fallen soldier's spirit touching the hand of his loved one's hand who had her hand over his name on the wall. I was visibly moved and after a bit of conversation the booth operator "welcomed me home". I was stunned and almost speechless. It was the very first time someone, other than my family, said that to me. I still remember that man's face.
