There are a variety of anti-virus programs that some are rated better than others. You can google their ratings.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials, (free version), and I use Malwarebytes, (free version), and I have had no problems for a year. I previously had McAfee and I don't see a difference in my computers protection.

If you use these programs, remember to run a scan once a week to ensure your PC's safety. The quick scan option only takes a couple of minutes. I had noticed that if one fails to do the scan every week, the MS Essentials goes from green to amber and it gives a warning that your PC can potentially be unprotected. Both programs are easy to dowload and use.
