Doctors have no need to know about guns in your house. On the other hand if you are not a responsible gun owner and allow children or unauthorized persons to have access to your firearms, then your right to own firearms should be taken. All rights come with responsibilities and if you are not adult enough to take the responsibility to correctly store and use firearms, then you lose that right.

Don't confuse getting a drivers license with the right to own firearms. Driving is a privilege granted by the state and not a right as most people believe. There is nothing in the Constitution that grants the right to own or drive a vehicle.

One of the things that I admire Florida about is this states following of the Constitutional rights granted by that document. In 1986, when Florida passed the first concealed carry law, all the anti-gun nuts screamed that there would be blood flowing in the streets as every little arguement would be settled by a gun fight. The only thing that happened is that violent crime went down. Seems that you have a greater chance of being shoot by a Law Enforcement Officer than you do a CWL holder.
