In the coming election all right wingers will vote for the republican, as will virtually every registered republican anywhere on the spectrum. All left wingers will vote for obama, as will most dems anywhere on the spectrum. However, I beleive there are a large number of dems who are moderates, who would vote for a viable republican. I also think that most independents would vote for a viable republican. IMO that group of moderate dems and independents would be very likely to vote for romney, but a great many would not vote for newt. Who knows, it may get muddled up and another candidate who could appeal to the middle may emerge, but right now I beleive romney is the best bet for republicans to win the WH.
