"Connect the Dots" i.e. "they failed to connect the dots as to Bin Laden's whereabouts" or "they fail to connect the dots on Iran"s nuclear capabilities". Good grief. Connect the dots is a first-grade activity and these world dilemmas certainly are not solved with first-grade skills.
