The carts have the stop sign and must wait for the road traffic to end before crossing.
I've seen cars stop after going through the gate and then wave carts to cross. This is a bad habit by motorists who think they're being polite. But it just causes mayhem, and you may get rear ended by car behind you because they don't expect you to be stopped.
If I'm driving my cart from the left side at a gated entrance, I stop, then venture out to the island in between the lanes and let cars through then cross when the gate goes down. I don't even cross when the motorist will motion me to. I just tell them "you first".
This keeps car backups at the gate to a minimum. I never argue with someone four times my size.
Be really careful driving your cart and crossing the new gates where a lot of construction is going on like the St James entrance where vehicles barely
slow down because they gates open automatically. And time is money.
