It depends on the height of you window on your vehicle, and the height of the sensor you're accessing. Some sensors are too high to use the closed window technique. Of course it depends how good a driver you are in coming close enough to the sensor station to use the closed window technique.

I know I'm a little irked by someone in front of me who taking extended seconds to get the gate to open. Maybe now I know why. Which is why if I see more than a couple of cars there I veer to the visitor gate.
