There are also reverse area phone books..that's how we realtors used to cold call people (hey, I didn't like it either!!!) Right now I have access to information showing the owners of almost any home in Michigan, this list also shows any mortgages, sale prices and tax information. As I said, it's all a matter of public record.

Last year, I wanted to research how much each person on my street was paying in property taxes (you can do that in Cook County, IL if you know the address of the home). All of the townhouses in my subdivision are the same size, so all owners who occupy their homes (not those who rent their homes to tenants) should be paying exactly the same in property taxes with the exception of owners over 64 who get a senior citizen exemption saving about those owners approx. $300 per year in taxes. There were several people on my street who were landlords, renting out their townhouses. I discovered one owner on my street actually lives in The Villages. Small world.
I still would like to know how a child's name (my niece) ends up on the listings for her parent's address. I don't think my sister and her husband have her listed on the mortgage...
