Look at who is supporting Romney and then who is not. The GOP establishment Karl rove (1% ers) , George Soros and every other hedge fund managere in the country. Why? Rush Limbaugh Sara Palin, Rev Wildmon of America Family Association, Herman Cain are some upporting Gingrich Why?

Because this GOP fight is about who will continue to control the GOP and the fight is among Establsihment, Tea Party and Evangeical Christians

The three overriding issues in this campaign are the economy, defense/offense (foreign policy) and Repeal of ObamaCare. Gingrich as an historian and his previous years in government can get results with all three issues. romney may be a good businessman but the government doesn't run itself like a business. You need someone like gingrich that knows how to apply pressure. As an historian he understand the importance of a strong military and will out perform romney and finally romney won't repeal ObamaCare in fact his plan is no different than Obama's and ergo one reason soros claims there is no difference between these two (Obama and Romney)
