I hear you!
We have gone gluten free and are watching all grains in an effort to keep sugar at a minimum. The biggest challenge is to remember that we don't have to use food as a "treat".
The biggest bonus is that after much researching about the tight tendons in his feet, resulting in a bone spur and knee pain, my husband found out that at our age we all need adrenal support from the cortisol/insulin connection resulting from over-sugaring or "stress" from any source. He discovered that nutrients needed to keep the body in balance, were being leached from the tendons and ligaments when there was too much cortisol released from the adrenals over our lifetime. We often are unaware how much we stress our bodies.
After about 2 weeks of taking Adrenasense, an herbal adrenal support, his bone spur was gone after over 2 years of feeling crippled! He is also finding that his knee is getting better after many years of knee pain. He commented that "the body is such a complex organism and it is fascinating how all the different systems are interrelated and how much is related to food." We really are getting more and more that "We are what we eat". Now... to find other ways to "treat" ourselves!
