You're right, the exact words were not "hurry up and eat" (not that I said they were) nor were they "eat faster" (which is what I did say but did not say it was a quote). I don't remember the exact words but it was basically, words to the effect that the restaurant was filling up (there were still at least 4 tables, probably 5 or 6 open around me) and could I please not take my time reading while I ate. Sorry, when I'm eating alone, I'm reading and eating. I still eat at a reasonable rate. And, had I not been asked to leave, I would have been done in about 15 minutes from getting my food. As it was, I sat there for well over an hour.
As was said, what could I possibly gain by relating this story? I don't stir up trouble but I don't back down from it, either.
