Many catalogs carry a sprinkler that is motion activated. It stands on a little "tower". It works on people as well as on deer, which is how I know the product.

Kind of like the lady that keeps using the side of my house as a cut through to another street, while wearing a path in my grass and when I finally had enough and said something, looked square at me and said "What, I'm not hurting your precious lawn, then turned and walked off."
