One problem with some gas carts is the cap has a cork seal. This seal absorbs gas and causes a gas smell in the cabin. Draw a line with a permanent black marker on the tank about 3/4 inch below the top. In the future only fill the tank to that level. This prevents that cork seal from getting soaked with gas and eliminates the smell. I believe they stopped using those in about 2007. I have an 04 and an 09. The 04 has the cork seal the 09 uses some type of rubber (not impacted by gas) seal. Probably a type of neoprene.

Not sure if you could buy a newer gas cap with the new type seal, but the "fill to" line works well also.
