We did exactly what Barefoot has said, bought a CYV with a low fence with a huge view and we have two dogs-an English and Irish Setter. Easiest way to deal with dogs it seems to me in The Villages and contain them from bothering anyone. Also it will be great because there will be dog doors to the back so they can come and go as they do now where we live on a half acre. I loved some of the big homes, we have a big home now. But the dogs rule and the needs of the dogs and respect for the neighbors had to be paramount for everyone to be happy. We bought a smaller place (because of the lot and view) with a very large yard and built a huge bird cage which also has a dog door so they can go from the villa through the Florida Room dog door into the bird cage through the birdcage dog door onto the grass. Gives them a little excercise along the way going through two dog doors to get relief!
