In a school classroom, I kind of wonder if the same would be tolerated of foreign exchange students. I imagine it would be the same.
If an atheist child did not want to recite the Pledge with the "under God", why would the child just skip over that part - no one would mind or probably even notice.
I do not believe anyone (adult or child) would be punished in any way if they did not want to pledge allegiance to the flag of the US - even if they are a citizen - as long as they stand in respect of what it means to others.
