I have 6-8volt batteries and after 30 miles, they are not dead. I probably could get another 10 miles out of them, but it's not worth the risk of draining them too far. One time I forgot to reset the trip meter on my speedometer when I charged the cart, then did so after using the cart for a while. I forgot it wasn't accurate and used the cart some more and probably put on over 40 miles when I noticed the digital meter blinking. I charged the cart immediately after the batteries cooled and it's been fine since.
