I just traded in my 2010 Jeep Unlimited Sahara Wrangler 4WD fully loaded, four door with Electric Drop Down Steps I had put in, leather. nav, etc etc and only 13,500 miles. I had it up for sale for just a little less than I paid for it and got a full price offer right away.

The Toyota dealership (in Seattle) where I was buying a Pre Runner offered me $1500 less that the private sale price I had. But in fact this saved me more because you do not pay taxes on the amount you trade in, so I only had to pay taxes on the difference in the new purchase amout and this turned out I increased my sale to the dealer to more than I would have sold it for privately.

My husband the CPA pointed this out to me right before the person who wanted to purchase my Jeep came to the house to see it. Just as another perspective depending on your trade....
