The clincher, for me, was karen saying that, if the labor was stopped but the infection continued risking her life, she WOULD have had the abortion to save her life so that her other kids wouldn't lose a mother.
Santorum's publicly stated position is that there should be NO exception and that the mother SHOULD die in a case like that.
This is where charges of hypocrisy can come in. It's ok to save his wife's life for the VERY VALID reason that the other kids shouldn't lose their mother to a fetus that will die once born - but not for others.
