There's a huge difference between saying:

Your wife must die even though the pregnancy that's killing her could be terminated.

...and something about someone's associations?

Now, I'm not being sarcastic here... I really do want some clarification.

What's the big deal about Rev. Wright? The "God Damn America" clip? Is there a corresponding clip of Obama saying that he took Wright's word as law? Look, I was raised Catholic and I didn't take everything I heard in catholic school or in Church as law - I made up my own mind.

And Ayers.. Well, there's a muddy situation at best. Having a meeting in one's living room at as young an age as that doesn't mean much. It's the subsequent actions that speak louder to me. Not that I'm thrilled with those actions - but it's not like Obama grew up to be Tim McVeigh.

Maybe it's because I got involved with a political cult when I came of age and got out of it when I realized the truth.

I mean, yes, we all know there's a certain level of hypocrisy in politics. But when you stake something SO STRIDENTLY like Santorum does with abortion...

Do you remember John Kerrey talking about how certain things he witnessed in the Vietnam were BURNED into his BRAIN - he made SUCH a big deal of them? ...except that he was never there and could never have seen what he claimed to have seen. If he'd said "I remember some bad things...." and later was found to have some minor errors, people could chalk that up to usual human memory faults. But to make SUCH a big deal of it? Well, that helped sink him.
