I've yet to meet one person who was happy to have had an abortion. Don't confuse that with the controversial ideas put forth in pro-life literature about "post abortion syndrome". What I meant was that the abortion was entered into with no joy. It was what was necessary at the time and, again in all cases, the couples involved would have preferred not getting pregnant in the first place.
I don't know how it is as far as national stitistics go, but in the circles I travelled, abortions usually happened after birth control failed. (Like one person who was never warned that taking antibiotics can nullify the effects of 'The Pill' for a month)
