I would think someone could figure out a way to have the classes use only the number of lanes they require. Maybe orange cones on the not available lanes, or a notice that lanes 1 through X are not available today between Y and Z time. One other observation is that Seabreeze seems to be one of the most popular rec center pools. Perhaps doing the classes at a less busy center. Not sure how many hours the classes take each day, but maybe doing it before the center opens or after it closes. There has to be times when LAP lane usage is not very busy, so schedule the class then. Split the class into two sessions on two different days and don't combine until the numbers drop. I would think 12 beginning swimmers with one instructor would be a bad ratio anyway from a safety concern. Maybe rotate the rec center used for the classes so that the "regulars" at a center have less impact. There has to be a way to make it work for everyone, just some smart person needs to see and understand the problem then figure out a solution.
