My vacation recently started in TV. What an ugly mess this is! The people put some type of fake grass or an indoor/outdoor carpet on a section of the front lawn (I don't think that meets anyone's deed compliance based on other posts I've read of fake grass). The homeowners also put a pretty large rectangle of some sort of mulch, nothing of much design, and it's more towards the street than it is the home. There's a bench sitting out there. I'm not certain of all what deed compliance issues are there, but previous posters on the topic said there are many. If I understood things correctly, I think it was said that as the home currently "sits", there's not enough percentage of sod out front. All I can say is, it's ugly.

I fully recognize we all have different opinions of what is ugly versus what is beautiful. But as a potential (eventual) Villager, I'm wondering why, if these are deed compliance violations, why isn't The Village Deed Compliance Unit (or whatever the official name of the group is) doing something about it? After all, previous posters indicated that complaints were filed about the home. I sure would hate to have those people as my neighbor. As the saying goes, "There goes the neighborhood". Who else in the area nearby sees this mess (in my opinion), and will choose to do something similar of their own design? Heck, if deed compliance violations aren't dealt with, what's to stop anyone from doing whatever they want? I would think some property values in the nearby homes are going to suffer. I am personally in favor of regulations for maintaining homes. That insures that properties maintain their $$ value. That would be very important for me.

What can you do in such a situation, since it appears TV is not being responsive to complaints? I'm not a sue-happy person and never have sued anyone. But, my property values are important to me. If the Deed Compliance Unit doesn't resolve the problem(s), can you sue The Villages because of lack of enforcement? Or, what could you do?

Thanks for taking the time out of your vacation to scout out problem areas for us folks that don't swallow everything some of the folks on TOTV dish out. You must believe in doing your homework before jumping in.
