To me, appliance quality is a crap-shoot anymore. A number of formerly 'reliable' brands have been acquired by different companies and in many cases, quality has suffered as a result.
We've got all GE Profile kitchen appliances at our home in OH. Not their premier line but still not cheap stuff by any stretch. Fridge has acted up intermittently since new. No sense in calling someone out to try to diagnose the problem when it acts up as the problem soon goes away. Maytag Bravos washer and dryer here as well - the main circuit board in the washer went belly up soon after the warranty was up. No relief offered via Maytag. Diagnosed the problem myself and replaced the board - saved a bunch of money, I'm sure. But we were still out $200 for the board alone.
Some people have had good recent experiences with different brands. Again, it's a bit of a crap-shoot nowadays - just pick whatever has the features you like and roll with it!
