If you look at a roundabout like a four way intersection, the third exit is a left turn. You should be in the INSIDE (left) lane if you you are going to take the third exit.

you would still be making a right turn. I do know exactly what you are talking about when you go 270 degrees around only to have someone go more than 90 in the right lane cutting off your exit. Like it said in the book you got to take your permit exam - Drive Defensively.
