My vet's secretary I talked to this morning said that their policy was that online pet pill providers would send a fax to the local vet's office who would then sign the fax and send it. I suppose a fee in this would be reasonable. Faxes do cost some money.

The other option was that a local pharmacist could fill the order after getting the vet's OK. In that situation, I do not really see a fee as being all that reasonable. The secretary would be basically just looking up my dog's record in the computer.

What we have found with our vet is for our dog to get her Rimadyl the online pharmacy will fax a request and get back a signed script from the vet. Just this am the vet called to tell us the results of our dog's recent bloodwork showed an infection. She told us we could buy the two week antibiotic supply from her but if we wanted a script to go to Walgreen's and save maybe $50 she would be glad to do that. Both services are currently free.
