Default Just Out Of Curiosity?

Where do you all stand on the Secret Service affair?

Here's where I am.
  • Is the POTUS responsible?...of course not, that's ridiculous. Supervising the Secret Service is way below his pay grade. It's probably more accurate to say that Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano is responsible. But even then, the nighttime activities of some Secret Service agents on assignment in a foreign country is even a bit below her pay grade too. But the head of the Secret Service? And any supervisors in the SS chain of command involving the team in Columbia? You betcha they're responsible!
  • OK, what should be done and who should do it?....I've always liked the standard for performance so traditional among Navy officers. If the guy steering the ship screws up and damages the ship, the Captain's career is over. Not necessarily the Chief of Naval Operations, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, or certainly not the POTUS. But the person responsible closest to the situation? He should be history. In this case, the government careers of the agents, their on-site supervisors, and probably the appointed head of the Secret Service should be gone.
Tough, yes, but let that happen a few times and people wll elevate to a much higher standard of performance and conduct. By the way, that same standard should be applied in the recent case involving the GSA, in my opinion.
