I'm cherry picking this sentence from your very thoughtful post, because this is the only point I'm trying to make with my big government loving, dictatorial powers acquiescing, ends justify the means, rabid leftist friend, Buggy.
The President has no right to do this and many other things he's done. If it were a Republican President doing this Buggy would again be "squealing like a pig stuck in barbed wire" (since he liked that phrase, I repeated it)
The President does not have the right to use "executive powers" in this manner.
