If this is the place on one corner of the square at SL the porch bar seemed to be a hangout for habitual smokers during the month I was in TV. I never even entered the place knowing full well some of the smoke from the porch would have found its way inside since after all, it is a gas. I'd as soon have gone in there as I would have voluntarily entered any other toxic waste site.

For the past twenty years or so I have lived in a beach community of Orange County, CA. I can go just about anywhere without unexpectedly encountering the stench and toxic components of tobacco smoke. Bars, indoor or out, indoor and outdoor eating facilities, even the beach are all clear of smoke - by law. It is wonderful! Like Florida, Southern California is a tourist mecca and we get our share of smokers from other states as well as from all over the world. Nevertheless, smoking controls are firmly in place and enforced. The tourists keep coming and all is well.

If someone wants to smoke where it does not impact unwilling others, that is fine with me, especially if they smoke a Phillip Morris or Altria product since I own stock in those companies. That helps make up a bit for my higher taxes and health insurance premiums going to pay the additional medical costs due to some folks smoking, the largest public health cost this country faces.
