To address at least part of your post, Jimbo:

We have a Cabot Cove patio villa. We liked that version (versus the more prevalent Colony floor plan) for several reasons:

- we didn't personally feel the need for having an eat-in kitchen area as well as a formal dining room that you'll find in the Colony

- both bedrooms in the Cabot Cove are a bit larger as are the closets

- the garage is somewhat larger as well

We're snowflakes at present so the patio villa works perfectly for us. If you can find one with the "volume ceilings" (vaulted ceilings), it will give the entire house a more open feeling.

As with everything else, it's all a matter of personal preference!
