If you're younger than your
Full Retirement Age (FRA), let's say age 66 for arguement's sake--you must collect your own reduced retirement benefit
before they'll let you claim your spouse's benefit. The rules are different if you're older than your
FRA. Your
FRA is determined by your DOB. Hope this makes sense.
