I, personally, would be more than willing to wait, if necessary, for the attention and results we've received from Ocala Eye over the years.
While I know I'm generalizing, Americans seem to have a lack of understanding of the meaning of 'triage.' We tend to want what we want, and we want it NOW! They key phrase here in the quote above is unreasonable wait [emphasis in the quote and in my response is mine]. I have been a patient of Ocala Eye for 4.5 years and have had short waits AND long waits, the latter often the result of an emergency coming in and taking precedence, according to the principles of triage.

For many decades I was the patient of an ophthalmologist in Boston who after his death at age 94 (the nerve!) was named one of the top ten physicians of the twentieth century in the WORLD! At times I shared the waiting room with the late Ella Fitzgerald, the Sultan of Indonesia, and others. Did I have to wait? You're darn right I did--sometimes as much as four hours--while at other times in and out in a half hour. Was it worth the wait, both there and at Ocala Eye? Absolutely! I have only one eye, and it has three sight-threatening conditions.... (Actually I have another eye, but I bought it in Philadelphia, so it IS my eye, the plus being that since it's made of plastic, it requires no medical care!)

This is not to say that other ophthalmological practices are not equally competent, but having to wait a reasonable amount of time (reasonable by my definition) is not one of the means by which I judge competency....
