So now what? How long will this relatively minor faux pax be politicized while there are serious issues on the table?

As I've said many times, I intend to vote for Mitt Romney. Should my intent be modified by his mis-statements which offended lots of people such as liking "firing people"; his wife's two Cadillacs; criticizing a non-existent French "law" permitting the automatic ending of marriage; criticizing Obama saying that it's not worth the cost or effort to kill Osama bin Laden; trying to criticize Hugo Chavez by using a Spanish phrase which was actually supportive of Castro in Cuba; angering women by saying that his wife's opinion is "not terribly relevant to my campaign"; complimenting Hitler for his energy policy; claiming that he created over 100,000 jobs when no one could ever substantiate that claim; being completely wrong in stating that unemployment reached double-digit levels under Carter but improved under Reagan's policies, when the reverse was actually true; his campaign claim that he will eliminate ObamaCare with an executive order, a power no president actually has...and on and on.

No, I will not make my judgement based on a literal and often out-of-context statements by either candidate. In a heated, politicized campaign where both candidates frequently try to appeal to narrow and highly partisan groups of prospective voters, I expect both candidates to make occasional gaffes which are clearly unintended and not reflective of their beliefs and positions in important issues. If they say certain things repeatedly, I'll get concerned. But otherwise, I'll make my voting decision based on a thoughtful consideration of a candidate's entire body of statements, writings, legislative achievement and overall experience.

It seems to me, and I understand your thinking of me, but it does seem that this thread and many others are started non maliciously.....THIS ONE...I wondered about the folks who prep the President for this kind of thing.....and the defense becomes so rabid and fanatic you sort of make those of us who may criticize anything to appear as if we make this stuff up.

This man is the PRESIDENT.....he is subject to criticism but you guys dont see it that way. You see anything relative to him as protected or something. He will make mistakes guys......and you can try to turn the tables but it does not CHANGE THE MAN. I admire your loyalty (and YOU are loyal as with each post you give yourself an out and ALWAYS add just a bit of a shot at whomever has criticized him or the other candidate..I mean just about ALWAYS) BUT as you like to say about anyone who criticizes him, we are making a lot of nothing....when you come on here to constantly defend him and of course add...I will vote for Romney UNLESS.....to me, THAT is disingenuous but you are consistent.

This entire thread would have died a natural death if not for those of you who try to use it to turn on anyone who has the nerve to be critical of the "One"
