You're forgetting about Hillary Clinton waiting in the wings. Hillary and Bill both have favorability ratings in the 70% range. I can't think of any republican that comes close to that rating. If Mitt Romney should come with striking distance, don't be surprised to see Hillary step up to the plate and get on the ticket as VP.
