Honestly, not sure which is worse -- having to leave the cart because of an emergency or forgetting that you had a cart full of groceries and driving away. Hope whomever left it was just distracted and not suffering from something.

That's true that it could have been an emergency. A few years ago, a young woman and her boyfriend brought her Yorkie to Doggie Doo Run Run (DDRR). It was their first time there. She was much younger than most of the people at DDRR and did have fun teasing and such.
She left for the CR466 WalMart to go shopping. Her dog must have got out of the car at WalMart and took off. She came back to the DDRR very upset and asking everyone if she had left her dog at DDRR.
In her grief, she figured out that the dog must have got out of the car when she went shopping at WalMart.
Never did find out what happened with the Yorkie at WalMart. The people at DDRR did have all kinds of suggestions and offers of help to find the pooch though.
