perhaps i am overly sensitive, rubicon. but as benefactor of federal $ and state $ - i am reminded constantly by members of the private sector that i am living off the govt trough AND that they are the ones who are filling it! am often reminded by the same folks that my work for state govt was not a job that generated a product from which profit was generated, as is common in their sector. they TOTALLY discount the fact that what i did produce for them was a service that they had whined for and demanded of their elected officials! had that service not been instituted there would have been no need for my postition...so i just thank them for their whining and demanding!
