All of these work for pretty much the same reason .... the "oils" in each act as a solvent for the glue and at the same time prevent the soften glue from sticking to the surface of whatever it was on ..... it just wipes away!
BTW .... WD 40 is good for 1001 things ... but not one of them is as a lubricant!! It will actually remove any and all lubricants that might have been wherever you spray it. DO NOT use WD 40 as a straight lubricant.
