One poster wrote, "Obama's recent move on the road to citizenship for many kids and adults now in the US illegally is a bold one but I see it more as a move to get votes than any carefully planned out policy."
This is not correct. The President stated his Executive Order is NOT a road to citizenship for these young people.
Is it a move to gather more votes? Of course it is. Basically, it is the DREAM Act with a few tweaks.
It is for children of illegals. The young people must have been in the US for at least 5 years; arrived before age 16 and are under 30 years old; high school education or military; and have had no criminal problems.
You certainly would not want to arrest an illegal 18 year old who has been in the US since age 2, educated in US schools, speaks no native language, has no relatives in native country, and deport them to that native country. That would be idiotic to even think that way.
