I have seen and heard many agree with rush limbaugh in hoping that our president fails. In other words their ideology, and proving themselves right is more important to them than having our country succeed. I have always been an independent voter, but have become increasingly disdainful of the far right and their seeming stranglehold on the republican party. This, of course, makes me a "liberal". My question is, how do you propose to win the presidency and congress if you are unable to get a majority of independents to vote for republicans? The strategy of alienating everyone who does not buy into the tea party, take no prisoners mentality, does not sit well with most independent voters. According to the article I will link, 40% of voters self identify as independent, while 31% identify themseves as democrat, and 27% as republican.

With all due respect I do not agree with LABELS of any sort and try hard not to use them ever. I oppose Obama in the strongest terms but that does not make me what you would like to label me as. I concur that we should be only interested in moving the country forward but obviously we disagree on how that can be done.
Your comments simply confirm what everyone knows...we have a serious impasse and a serious breaks between radical forms AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, we lack any kind of leadership that will bring our "statesman" together.
Great example is that of the past immigration efforts that would have been law years ago.....Bush supported it.....congress in both houses could not get either the far left nor the far right to concur and thus we have what we have.
I am staying away from some opinions that are focused on present company in office as I assume your question was not to "start a war" of words but engage conversation.
The election coming up is of great import......whoever wins will be faced with great problems. If Romney should win, he MUST immediately forge a bond with democratic leaders...if Obama is reelected, he is toast without winning both houses since he has demeaned the Republican party by name for years and he is not going to get any co operation whatsoever...not debating the merits of that...simply giving my opinion on what might happen.
I think the anger with Obama on lying, personally deciding what laws he will enforce, the economy an a few other thing spells a landslide for Romney unless he screws up the debates no matter the polls. I spent the last few days in Tampa, a very "liberal" city...and the most progressive people here are very very upset with Obama and his lack of leadership. They,, like me, and it appears that you also, want what is best for America and not a political dogma
What you see on what you call the right..ie following dogma before country is exactly what the right sees on the left. You mention a Limbaugh, they will call your attention to MSNBC and a few other folks.
You make it appear one sided...it is not one sided. The left feels as strong about their ideological stand as the right does. Surely you have read the posts on this forum to substantiate BOTH. Surely you read enough to substantiate BOTH.
Too much money......behind the scenes on BOTH sides. I agree with former Rep Harold Ford who said this weekend that the money being spent is so excessive that he can only see a MAJOR HUGE earthshaking scandal to emerge and it could be on either side.
WE NEED LEADERSHIP....do not need the smartest guy....dont need him or her to be democrat or republican....just a good american who can LEAD.
I probably should not have answered this post because I know what you want to happen and I really tried to be objective because despite my objections to the man in the WH, I surely recognize the obvious problems this country faces with the ideological divide we have fueled by the money, the lobbyist, etc.
Sorry..I know from past experience you will be attacking and making fun of me and that is fine.....knock yourself out, but the current situation is just not something this country can sustain and survive and continuing to label people is just plan wrong and counter productive.
