I feel your pain, had vertigo a few times over the years, first time I got it, I had no idea what on earth it was. Very scary. Ended up in ER as I didn't know what was going on, vertigo was diagnosed, meds were given and it went away right away. That said, I never go anywhere without my meds when I travel. I was prescribed Meclizine 25mg tabs for the dizziness and Promethazine 25mg tabs for the nausea.

Only had two episodes in past 10 years of vertigo, but I know the symptoms now, so when I get it, I take the Meclizine right away and usually only have to take it for a few days and it has passed by then and I can walk and continue on with life. Most docs say you should take it for a week, but I never felt a need to take it that long. Vertigo can last a week, two weeks and up to a month I hear. Thank goodness, I have never had that long of a bout with it. Doc also told me that there isn't a cure for it, but meds do certainly help till it passes.

I would discuss it with your doctor and see what he/she says since you are having a rather long bout of it. Oh, Meclizine is a really just a super strong antihistimine prescription strength.

I hope it passes soon for you, I know it is not fun when having a bout, can't imagine without meds.
