I got up from the couch about 8 years ago feeling fine and took a few steps toward the kitchen and suddenly my world started spinning I went to the floor and was also nauseated. Long story short----my wife called 911 thinking I was "stroking out" and I ended up in the ER. The "tests" showed vertigo and My Primary Doctor sent me to an ear/Specialist. They explained it as a min-stroke of the inner ear which the Specialist said there was a good chance it would not happen again. I lost 30% hearing in one ear and coordination came back but not at a 100%. I would strongly suggest that you see a doctor ASAP to get you're situation diagnosed to be certain that vertigo is the problem. I did take medication for a few weeks and it helped. It was scary and lucky another episode has not occurred.
