We've lost our Comcast telephone six times in three months. Can't believe there isn't an option for going to another company for TV-Internet-Telephone.

We switched from Comcast to Directv in 2008 when we still lived in Baltimore, and I would never go back. The final straw was Comcast went out on a Friday and didn't come back in service until Monday, and we had no updates the entire time.
When we moved to TV we brought our boxes with us and they gave us Showtime/Starz free for six months. We use Century Link for telephone and internet. For $59.99 a month we get telephone with unlimited long distance, caller ID and call block and internet with 10 Mbps download speed 'to the curb', meaning there is no modem. You plug your computer or router directly into the wall outlet. With tax it comes to about $75 a month for telephone and internet.
Our Directv bill is about $110 a month, but we get about 130 channels in HD, including 8 HBO and 8 Cinemax and a lot of sports programing. It all costs more than Comcast but you get what you pay for. When football season comes we'll be watching any game we want on Directv with NFL Sunday ticket, that's not available anywhere else. This year it will cost $199 which you'll pay over a 6 month period.
