After I bought the car I got an after market air cleaner installed..A good K&N. They did not say anything negative regarding the air cleaner but here is where it gets ridiculous...When the airbox was opened a bug got in and shorted the mass air flow sensor and because I had "opened up" the air box and allowed this bug to get in I was responsible...For the record that was a year ago so the bug must have ben hibernating...What a LOAD of CRAP..

I have a call into Ford now to file a claim and will let all know how this plays out...
Did you have an oil change just prior to the check engine light coming on? I have a Toyota Highlander and anytime the oil is changed at a non-dealer, my check engine light will come on a day or two later. When the oil is changed at a Toyota dealer they always reset the light automatically. They even put to reset engine light on the invoice. Maybe it is only a quirky thing with Toyota Highlanders. Just a thought. I have had this quirky thing for years and am sure they explained why but don't remember.
