Trance, it sounds like you had a great experience. The problem is, what do you do if the outcome isn't that good? Did the doctor use your dental insurance (if you had it)...this would need to be counted. We have some European patients that went back to their native country for dental work because it was less costly...not when they had to pay there, then pay here to have the work done over. I am DEFINITLY not saying that we are the only country in the world to have good dentistry, I am only saying we have the ability here to check credentials, know which dental school the dentist went to, check through the state if there have been any complaints filed, get referrals from other patients and have legal recourse if there is any malpractice. When you go overseas you have none of these. I care way too much for my health to put it into the hands of someone when I don't have the ability to even check out the status of their license or even if they are licensed. I am really, really glad for you but in my opinion you took quite a risk.
