It takes time to eat a lot, several times a day. I think having more time on ones's hands and being at home more after retiring would contribute to eating more. If you're out of the house and busy doing things like golf, classes, working out, volunteering jobs, etc., there won't be so much time to eat meals or big snacks.
And it's a great place to walk, walk, walk....year round.....no ICE to slip on and make yourself a wreck on that! We keep less food in the house here, too, which means we have to make the effort to walk or drive the cart to Publix or SweetBay to get something to fix at home.
It's also a good idea to stay away from Sam's when they are serving those food samples that are delicious and enticing.....and often highly fattening.
